Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL)

Technical wood solution for strong and sustainable structure

LVL is a high-performance engineered wood product that has been widely used globally for over 30 years. Thanks to its durability and stability, LVL is now an essential material in construction, furniture manufacturing, structural beams, and the packaging and pallet industry.

The product is manufactured by peeling thin layers of wood from round wood, checking the quality of each layer, then pressing and gluing parallel to the wood grain under pressure, temperature and special glue technology. This modern process brings outstanding advantages:

  • High strength & stable load bearing capacity – suitable for structural and load bearing applications.
  • Uniform & stable size – reduces warping and cracking during use.
  • Optimizing raw material efficiency – effectively exploiting wood resources, environmentally friendly.
  • Meets international standards – trusted by contractors, manufacturers and global distribution systems.

With consistent quality and the ability to replace natural wood, Sao Viet Plywood’s LVL is a strategic choice for international customers looking for a sustainable, cost-effective and long-term stable material solution.

Outstanding advantages

  1. Outstanding durability and bearing capacity
With a tightly pressed multi-layer structure, LVL has high mechanical strength, better resistance to warping, splitting and shrinkage than traditional lumber.
  2. Flexible size, uniform quality
Can be produced in large lengths independent of logs, uniformly controlling thickness, width and humidity, bringing stability in construction.
  3. Lighter weight than natural wood, optimal cost
LVL helps reduce the construction load while still ensuring structural strength, and at the same time saving costs compared to using solid wood.
  4. Diverse applications
Commonly used for beams, purlins, door frames, floors and many structural items in civil and commercial construction.
  5. Sustainable, environmentally friendly solution
LVL effectively utilizes plantation wood resources such as acacia, eucalyptus, fat, bodhi to help save natural resources and meet international standards such as FSC®, CARB P2, JAS,…

Is laminated wood (LVL) better than solid wood?
Layered plywood (LVL) possesses many outstanding advantages over solid wood thanks to modern manufacturing technology: Strong bonding: LVL is pressed from multiple layers of wood veneer under high temperature, pressure, and adhesive conditions, eliminating natural defects such as knots or cracks, ensuring uniform strength. Superior durability: LVL has higher load-bearing capacity, bending resistance, and mechanical stability than solid wood. Dimensional stability: Less prone to warping, twisting, or shrinkage over time. Production flexibility: Can be manufactured in various sizes and lengths to meet specific technical requirements. Resource optimization: Efficiently utilizes plantation timber, reducing waste and contributing to sustainable development. Therefore, LVL is increasingly preferred in modern construction and industrial projects as a replacement for solid wood.
What are the main differences between LVL and regular wood?
Unlike natural wood, which has many knots and defects, LVL is manufactured under a rigorous quality control process that eliminates these weaknesses. As a result, LVL has higher durability, stability, and load-bearing capacity than conventional wood, especially in structural applications requiring long-term strength.
Is LVL more durable than natural wood?
Yes. Thanks to being pressed from multiple layers of veneer oriented in the same direction, LVL forms a more uniform, durable, and straighter material than natural wood. This helps LVL overcome common drawbacks of solid wood such as cracking, warping, or weakness at knot points.
    Is LVL fire-resistant?
LVL meets fire safety standards in construction. Like solid timber, when exposed to fire, LVL chars on the surface, creating a protective layer that slows down the burning process and maintains structural integrity for a longer period. Tests have shown that the charring rate of LVL is equivalent to that of natural lumber, ensuring fire safety requirements in construction.
Is LVL susceptible to termites, rot, or mold?
LVL has good resistance to mold and decay if manufactured, treated, and installed correctly. However, like other wood products, direct and prolonged contact with water should be avoided. Sealing the ends and edges, using protective coatings or preservatives will help increase durability, prevent moisture penetration, and extend the product's lifespan.
Can the factory provide product samples for testing before placing a bulk order?
Yes. We are happy to provide product samples for customers to check the quality, surface finish, and specifications before placing a formal order.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for Sao Viet Plywood?
Our standard MOQ is one 40ft container.
For LVL products, does the factory offer cutting in-size services?
Yes. We are equipped with modern machinery that can support cutting seaweed and processing it to custom sizes. This helps customers optimize costs and makes the production or construction process more convenient.
